Hello again and welcome. I am Mark Crittenden and I will be hosting this anthology of the darkest horror tales imaginable. Every small press has a "best of" idea for an anthology these days, and since horror is our main cup of tea here we will do likewise.

What I am looking for is simple. The most horrific story you have ever imagined. Nothing short of this will do. If there was one that kept you up at night, constantly closing the blinds and checking behind doors as you wrote, that's probably the one. Reprints are okay, but only if they are not under contract elsewhere. The mood of your story is EVERYTHING. I want subtle terror dripping from every page. Absolute devilry, the macabre, and the monstrous is the rule of the day. We humbly ask for your finest for OUR finest.

Please use standard writing format: paragraph indents, single spacing, do not underline, use quotes when necessary, etc,.. Please include your name, your story title, a brief bio of 100 words or less, and the approximate word count. We are asking for stories with a word count of 2,500 minimum. No maximum word count (but anything above 7,000 you may want to query first). Please no fan fiction. Do not base your story or any likeness therein upon any known characters, names, or situations from popular culture (movies, books, etc,.) Do not send serial excerpts from a novel. Your story should be a stand-alone which is composed only for the purpose of this anthology. No and I repeat NO HEADERS OR FOOTERS SHOULD BE ANYWHERE IN YOUR STORY.

What to send: Send your story to ( mceditormc@gmail.com) as an attachment in Word .doc or .rtf format with the subject line as "TrueDark- (your story title)". Electronic submissions only. No simultaneous submissions. In other words if you have submitted your story elsewhere, we don't want it. Reprints will be considered, provided you have the rights to your story and any other contractual obligations for that story have elapsed.

Submission period is Feb 12, 2012 to Sept 12, 2012. (this is a tentative date, as subs may fill sooner or later than proposed dates)

This is a non paying anthology. Payment is bragging rights for being in Red Skies first "Best of" anthology.  Good luck
